SCIENCE AND FASHION AT CAMP GOALS

Every year the Intrepid Museum hosts CAMP G.O.A.L.S (Greater Opportunities Advancing Leadership and Science) for girls. Camp GOALS is a free 6-week camp for girls that attend New York Public City Schools and are in the in the 9th or 10th grade. As part of the Science Saturday Series, I demonstrated the link between fashion and science by sharing my career path and current projects. Program Coordinator, Shay Saleem remarked, "Your presentation was truly amazing, and the information and visuals were thought-provoking, informative and very educational. I believe you may have inspired a great deal of the campers to think outside the box and to view science and fashion as a local and GLOBAL issue." I was thrilled to spend time with the campers answering questions and encouraging them to make creative contributions to our world through advancements in science. NATALIA

Yes! Love that you were able to share a great message with young women— that fashion is not a frivolous pursuit. It’s deeply entwined with our environment and socioeconomic structure, and the next generation is in great need of antidotes to a culture of fast fashion. And that antidote is education!
